Photos and artworks by Sylvia J. Scheidegger Burke

I am a hobbyist, not a professional artist. I’ve been working with photography since the early 1980s, when I installed my first darkroom. Developing photos in those times was great fun, but slow.

With the development of digital cameras, Adobe Photoshop (and similar programs) came along, with the ability to edit photos on the computer. Since computer science is my field, I was immediately hooked.

After March of 2020, and staying home often, I decided to learn Adobe Illustrator, which was and is a challenge as I have no art background. Illustrator has certainly kept me engaged and is a perennial learning instrument for me.

My husband, Gerald (Jerry) Burke and I live in Las Cruces, NM. We both have had a strong connection working for and learning from New Mexico State University.

After leaving NMSU-PSL, I started a software company, Cogent Computing Corporation, and developed and sold C-Quest Assessment Software until 2011, when I retired from the business. Now, I spend my time enjoying the Adobe software programs, as well as developing small websites.
