England and Beyond

Oxfordshire, England. 1988 I was interested in this bridge and it’s blue water, then walked onto the bridge and noticed the picture to the right..

This is taken from that bridge to the left. During a photography show I had, someone I knew who had studied in the area, said “That’s the Trout Inn. We used to eat fish there and throw the heads in the water”.
On a later trip husband and I dined there.

Egypt and South Yemen-1990

We took a trip to Egypt and South Yemen (which was then independent).
NMSU had contracts in these areas for schools. North & South Yemen were two separate countries, but in the early 1990s Yemen became one country.

Cairo & the Road to Alexandria

I didn’t get to photograph much in the 2 days of Egypt, but did get a picture of the Pyramids, and one of a camel that tourists would ride. I joined them together.

The group took a van ride from Cairo to Alexandria. Along the road people would gather to ask for their pictures to be taken. I hope our guides gave them something. This picture shows the woman in blue and her reflection in the van’s side mirror.

Sana’a, South Yemen
I was given a driver in Yemen to show me what places were allowed to be photographed. This trip was really fun, exciting and educational.

This is the entrance to the central marketplace with interesting paths to the various shops – it was someone reminiscent of the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Quite Exciting.

When photographing in this aisle, the Blacksmith came out and offered to pose for a picture. After I thanked him he said “send me a picture” in English. I had no address; perhaps he will see this one.
